Data can be proved overwhelmingly wrong!!
Statistics have been proved to be useful from ancient years.
Years ago when sun would have been discovered, its distance might been averaged
before actually getting the correct distance. Later as we grew more interested
in data, we started to discover more tools and configuring them according to
our data. Data is the ingredient for any statistical occupation and tool. Through
data we can honor and sustain everything.
This is in reference to the recent interview that occurred between
Zee Media and PM Modi. The fact stated by him against the question that under
his governance, he failed to provide sufficient jobs to the people. He replied
stating that he provided 55 Lakh jobs to us. After two days Jairam Ramesh,
congressman and his co-author dishonored this reply and published an
article in refute of it. What they did wrote was very write in their terms of
data and supporting examples.
The duo stated that Modi was telling a killing lie to the
nation. They took the help of data released from EPFO and commanded it over the
statement to prove the falsification. Even I have considered true what Modi
told and was in the demotion that I am the poorest of all well beings who had
not got the job in spite of all that, however TCS CEO claims that he had recruited
47,000 Indians past this month. Well 10 from my college only, they count and I
am not among them. Apart demonitisation and GST implementation the cash inflow
was good in banks but was not sufficient to prove that this has helped in
making the consensus.
Point is that under circumvents of Surveys, Census and
public opinions governments cannot impose wrong interpretation to public.
However sometimes these are correct, sometimes are not. Accepting it, my
college teacher has warned me to believe on any data unless you have collected,
mined it and generated the information for it. Not only government, media often
misguides us from the survey they released from opinion polls before and after
elections. I would say apply the same logic and don’t believe anyone’s data.
That’s why people talk of publicizing the data. Still if
they make the data public simple maths cannot help you to falsify the
hypotheses. That’s why we need honest advisors, consultants, media persons and
lawyers who can unmask the fact. Ramesh has similarly done the right job and
should be appreciated for coming as a true opposition MP. But Modi would say it
an allegation has he has issue a similar statement in the interview.
Final words for the
article
Data is power. It depends on the operator (economist) how it
operated it. Because statistics is something which can be used to state a fact
true even if it’s wrong. Data can be mistreated to present fallacy, like
happens for the formula of GDP. Thereby need of right economist who can
facilitate a role as public speaker, conservationist, thinker and editors are
required to disprove and oppose such facts because knowing simple maths would
not help you to dig out the truth, statistics will.
